It’s Time to Order Easter Lilies!

It's time to order the Easter Lilies that beautify our sanctuary on Easter Sunday. This Sardis tradition is a wonderful way to honor or remember a loved one.  You may take your lilies home after the 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. worship service on Easter Sunday. To order, please download the form below (or pick-up one in the church office, Narthex, or Gathering Place). Return it to the church office or place it in the offering plate.

Attach a check for $11.75 per lily, payable to Sardis Presbyterian Church.  Note “Easter Lily” on the memo line of your check. Payments need to be received by Friday, March 23.

Kingombe Habitat House Complete!

kingombe house

In a heart warming dedication ceremony on December 14, the Kingombe family, Hardis, Mimi, Gloria, Gabriella, and Jeff, received the keys to their new home in Matthews.

Sardis church was a major sponsor of this Habitat home in partnership with Thrivent Financial, as well as Christ Covenant, Cross and Crown Lutheran, Matthews United Methodist, and Matthews Presbyterian Churches.

Kingombe Family

In addition to financial support, Sardis members served as construction volunteers and meal providers. Sardis members Walt Donham, Warren Langston, and Dick Puryear serve year round on the Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity Building Committee. Sardis had partnered on building a Habitat House every third year.

Thank you, Sardis, for helping to make a home for this wonderful family!

Fobel Anniversary Scholarship Fund Recipients

The funds that were collected for Jane Fobel’s 20th Anniversary have been transferred to Friends of OFCB and have become the Bayonnais Education Foundation Fund; the amount transferred was $22,000. The fund will be the basis for a student loan program to enable students in Bayonnais to enroll in college. Students selected by the OFCB School will be eligible to apply for a loan that will be repaid when the student graduates and is employed. Pastor Actionnel Fleurisma has said of the ministry in Bayonnais. “If you are planting for a year, you plant grains. If you are planting for a decade, you plant trees. If you are planting for a generation, you plant people.”

Thank you Sardis for planting seeds that will grow people and enable young adults to make a positive impact on their community.
