Co-hosted by Sardis Presbyterian Church and Providence Presbyterian Church
We live in a time of deep division. Differences in political beliefs and other issues can quickly become divisions between neighbors, coworkers, friends, family members, and members of the same community.
What happens when our differences begin to keep us from listening to one another, understanding one another, or working together?
Join Sardis and Providence Presbyterian for an evening with Braver Angels, a national, nonpartisan organization working to address the growing divide among Americans. Braver Angels brings people together across political and other differences with the goal of building understanding, trust, and the ability to disagree without treating one another as enemies.
This evening is an opportunity to learn about the organization and its approach—not a political debate or a workshop requiring participants to disclose or defend their own views. Our guests will introduce the work of Braver Angels, describe what they have learned about polarization and division, and share ways individuals and communities can begin to approach these challenges differently.
Our Guides for the Evening
We’re pleased to welcome Rev. Dick Little and Rev. Carolyn Hayford, who serve together as local ambassadors for the Braver Angels Charlotte Metro Alliance.
- Rev. Dick Little served as Senior Pastor at Advent Lutheran Church for 22 years before retiring and has remained deeply committed to community building and campus ministry.
- Rev. Carolyn Hayford recently joined the Matthews/Charlotte community after serving as a pastor, interim pastor, and dean within the ELCA Southeastern Synod. She brings a lifelong passion for social justice and collaborative, community-focused ministry.
All are welcome. Come learn about the challenge of polarization, the work of Braver Angels, and what it can mean to build stronger communities across our differences.
