Sardis’ 236th Birthday Celebration
Sunday, February 8
Join us as we celebrate 236 years of God’s faithfulness to Sardis Presbyterian Church! We’re excited to gather together for worship, reflection, and fellowship.
Schedule:
- 9:00 & 11:00 AM – Worship Services
- 10:00 AM – Sunday School for all ages
- 12:00 PM – Congregational Meeting & Annual Report Presentation in the Fellowship Hall
- During the meeting – Potluck Lunch
Potluck Lunch: Come hungry and ready to fellowship! Scout Troop 33 will provide BBQ, and the Stewardship Ministry is sponsoring desserts. We invite you to bring a side dish to share.
Our History: On February 24, 1790, Sardis was among the small congregations that organized the first Associate Reformed Presbyterian Presbytery in the South. The families of John Black, James Boyes, William Irwin, John Kirkpatrick, and Matthew Wallace formed the nucleus of our congregation—and some of their descendants are still active members today!
As we remember this Founder’s Day, let us give thanks for those who have gone before us for their faith, dedication, and hope that we continue to build on their vision.
We can’t wait to break bread together and celebrate the generations of faith that have brought us to this moment. Mark your calendars and plan to stay for this special time of community!
Feel free to visit the Historical Room in the Sanctuary to learn more about Sardis’ rich history.
