Hi, I’m Steven, the Contemporary Worship Leader here at Sardis. I have been at Sardis since 2018 and can usually be found running around on a Sunday morning making sure all the musicians are ready for worship! My responsibilities include leading the band, selecting music, rehearsals, working with youth bands, and striving to be an ambassador for the 9 a.m. service.
I graduated from Appalachian State University (Go Mountaineers!) and worked in various forms of ministry, before settling in the Charlotte area. I have a daughter, Riley, and 100+lb Great Pyrenees, Ghost. When I am not leading worship, you will usually find me in my office trying to read my ever-growing collection of books, entertaining my little girl, or at a taphouse/coffeehouse with friends (pre-quarantine of course!). I have collected comic books since I was 10 years old, which is longer ago than you might think. I also sung on a stage in front of 12,000 people, been attacked by a hyena, lost a fight with a small monkey over a protein bar in rural Kenya, and produce a comedy show for over 20,000 people each week. Ask me about all of those things sometime. I will tell you all about them! I am grateful to serve Sardis and am looking forward to growing with the congregation in time to come!
