SINGING CHOIRS

SANCTUARY CHOIR
Adults and Senior High Students
Thursday, 7:30–9:30 PM
Ken and Sharon De Boer
The Sanctuary Choir includes people of diverse musical backgrounds.  The Choir has the principal responsibility for the choral music of the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service from September through June.  Besides, weekly anthems and responses, the Sanctuary Choir presents major choral works during the Christmas and spring seasons usually with organ and chamber orchestra.  Some music reading skills are helpful but not required.  Requirements are a love of singing and a commitment of time each week preparing service music.  New members are always welcome!

CELEBRATION SINGERS and BAND
Adults and Senior High Students
Thursday, 6:30–8:00 PM
Richard Ramsey
The Celebration Singers and Band are a mixed-age group who enjoy music with a contemporary flavor.  Under the direction of our contemporary director, this choir has the responsibility for music at the 9:00 a.m. worship service.  Contemporary singers and band musicians are welcome.

RINGING CHOIRS

Sardis has handbell choirs of varying abilities and experience.  Since ringing requires some degree of proficiency in music reading and technique, it also requires commitment to attend rehearsals and performances.  New members are always welcome and we will gladly do “on the job” training! See Ken or Sharon DeBoer for further information.

CRESCENDO CHIMES
Grades 3-5
Wednesday, 6:30–7:00 PM
Ken and Sharon DeBoer
As part of our Wednesday evening’s Connect @ Sardis, we offer this beginning bell choir that uses easy-to-handle choir chimes rather than handbells.  Children learn basic bell technique, reading notes and rhythm, and how to be a “team.”

DECIBELLS
Grades 6–12
Sunday, 5:15–6:00 PM
(Prior to Youth Fellowship)
Ken and Sharon DeBoer
This is a bell choir for middle and high school students who have a moderate level of music reading and ringing.  Some have had previous ringing experience, but if you are a school instrumentalist or vocalist and read some music, you will be able to play handbells.  The Decibells ring several times a year in worship services.

ALPHA RINGERS
Adult
Wednesday, 9:30–10:45 AM
Ken DeBoer
The Alpha Ringers are an accomplished adult handbell group and ring at our 11:00 a.m. worship services several times a year and occasionally play concerts outside the church.  They also take part in the Mid-Carolinas Handbell Festival at Sardis. A moderately good music reading ability and a commitment to regular rehearsal attendance is necessary.  New members are always welcome.

COVENTRY RINGERS
Adult
Wednesday, 7:30–9:00 PM
Ken DeBoer
Also an accomplished bell choir, the Coventry Ringers ring several times a year at the 11:00 a.m. worship service.  This group often plays with the Alpha Ringers at outside concerts and the Mid-Carolinas Handbell Festival. A moderately good music reading ability is necessary. New members are always welcome.
