Courageous Conversations of Faith Series

The Faith Formation Ministry invites you to come to our next event in our Courageous Conversations series as guest speakers, Rev. Dr. Julia Moore and Rev. Ricky Moore, lead us in a discussion about Sardis’ participation in Equity, Memory & Memorial Program (E2M). We will learn about significance the historic slave burial grounds on our campus has to our church, the city of Charlotte, and our new partnership with Grier Heights Presbyterian Church and Ben Salem Presbyterian Church.

We will meet on Tuesday, October 24 in the Sardis House. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for some social time and dessert. Our program will begin at 7:00 in person and via Zoom (contact Anne Shoaf for the Zoom information).

About Our Speakers

Julia Robinson Moore has served as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church for over 25 years. She is also currently serving as a teaching elder in the Presbytery of Charlotte and in her home church, River Church Charlotte. She formerly served as pastor of Black’s Memorial Presbyterian Church in Monroe, NC. Julia achieved a Bachelors of Arts Degree in for Alma College, a Masters of Divinity from Princeton University and doctorate in History from Michigan State University. She joined the Department of Religious Studies at UNC Charlotte in 2005. She teaches courses in African American Religion, Religions of the African Diaspora, and racial violence in America. 
Ricky Moore has been involved in part time ministry for over 20 years. He has volunteered in various capacities throughout the local church. He is serving as teaching elder in their home church, River Church Charlotte. Ricky has a Masters of Biblical Studies from Charis Bible College in Charlotte NC. He is an ordained minister and he is serving on the Board of Directors with River Church Charlotte. He has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. During his business career Ricky has held various managerial and executive level positions at multiple companies. He also has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette IN.
